This week, I’d like to introduce our Executive Assistant, Amber Worthington. She joined our team at the beginning of August and we are so grateful for the experience, warmth and knowledge she brings to Cardinal Academy.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Hello! My name is Amber. I grew up in beautiful Boise, Idaho. I graduated from NNU in 2020 with a B.S. in business administration. I hope to one day go back to college and obtain my Master’s Degree in Education. This past year has been the first time in my life that I haven’t been enrolled in school and I absolutely miss it.
I am happily married to my husband Ethan. Our household consists of our beautiful 8 year old daughter-Audrey Lou and my husband’s beautiful 15 year old sister Jada. We have two cats, a dog, and a hamster. I enjoy being busy so this all works in my favor.
We love to play board games, travel and joke around with each other. I often say that when I am outdoors that I am in my happy place. Hiking around the foothills, camping, biking or even walking around the neighborhood are a few things I enjoy doing whenever I get the chance.
A couple of random facts about myself:
– I have never been a soda drinker.
– My current favorite dinner is BBQ’d chicken salad.
– I love the idea of reading, however, I struggle to sit down and actually do it. It’s something I have been working on. Let me know if you have any good book recommendations
What do you like most about your work with Cardinal Academy?
I cannot wait to get to know the students and their children. I want to be able to hear their stories and connect. Having attended Marian Pritchett myself, it is a very special opportunity for me to be on the other side of it all. I feel that the work I do each day is making a difference, which motivates me.
The fact that I am fortunate enough to see young parents make the choice to come to school in order to further their education is simply amazing.
I also love the fact that the staff cares so passionately about the students’ and each other’s well-being. The atmosphere is great. I LOVE coming to work each day. It finally feels like all the hard work in school has paid off!
What are your hopes for Cardinal Academy?
My hope for Cardinal Academy is that young parents can come to school, feel comfortable, and have the opportunity to graduate and be successful. I hope that the school enrollment continues to grow and that we can help show students the resources available that can help better their lives. No student should feel the pressure to choose between dropping out to take care of their child or furthering their education. It is possible to do both. The world has enough challenges going on. Getting an education doesn’t have to be added to the list. As a young mom myself, I know how challenging it can be sometimes. Having these tools and relationships later on in life can help immensely. We want to see everyone who walks in the doors succeed.
What was the best parenting advice you ever got as a mom?
The best parenting advice that I received as a mom was to try to find joy in all circumstances and to slow down and enjoy the moment for how it is. More often than not, I find myself asking when bedtime is. Life is busy and can be pretty stressful at times. However, at the end of the day when my daughter is in bed and I find myself missing her and wishing that I would have soaked up every opportunity that I could have. They are only small for a short while, so I try to remind myself to soak it all in.
